The Shelby County Court Calendar
There is no separate county calendar site. Shelby County relies on the statewide Indiana Court Calendar. It collects public schedules from participating trial courts. Pick Shelby as the county, choose a date, and narrow by court if that helps. The local choices are Shelby Circuit Court, Shelby Superior Court 1, and Shelby Superior Court 2. Each is tied to Shelby County cause numbers. Magistrate matters stay under the court where the case was filed. They do not form a separate search system.
Remember what the calendar is. It is a setting locator. It is not the full Chronological Case Summary, and it is not the official court file. Each result can carry the session date and time. The case number, style, court, hearing description, and judicial officer may appear too. The court controls the live schedule. The Shelby County Clerk keeps the filed requests, orders, and CCS history.
Shelby County Calendar Search Window
How far can you search? The calendar shows schedules from the past seven days through the next four weeks. A Shelby County hearing set further out may still be valid. It can be missing from the current view all the same. County is a required field. Court and search text simply narrow the results. The date picker must stay within the published range.
The official calendar interface provides the county, court, date, and text controls a Shelby County docket search needs.

Those controls explain the flexibility. One Shelby County court date can be pulled by day alone or narrowed with a case name or number.
| Control | Use | Limit |
|---|---|---|
| County | Select Shelby | Required |
| Court | Choose Circuit, Superior 1, or Superior 2 | Optional after county |
| Date | Choose the hearing day | Seven days back to four weeks ahead |
| Search text | Case name or number | Optional, 75 characters |
How to Find Your Court Date
When the date truly matters, use more than one channel. Start with any filed order, summons, bond sheet, or citation, since those are case-specific. The calendar works best for a near-term schedule. Meanwhile, Indiana MyCase carries the longer CCS history. A quick call to the court confirms whether a setting is still live. The Clerk counter and the courthouse public computer fill the gap. Use them when a record or document is not online.
- Read the latest citation, summons, bond sheet, or order for the court and date.
- Open Court Calendar, select Shelby County and the date, then choose the court when known.
- Enter the cause number or case name and compare the result with the newest MyCase setting.
- If absent, call Circuit at 317-392-6360, Superior 1 at 317-392-6350, Superior 2 at 317-392-6340, or Magistrate at 317-421-1400.
- For file questions, call the Clerk at 317-392-6320 or ask Room 111 staff about the public computer.
- Check courthouse postings and speak with counsel, if represented, before relying on an old date.
Shelby County publishes no separate daily-docket PDF or coordinator email list. The working chain is the calendar, the CCS, filed paper, the court phone, a courthouse posting, a terminal, and counsel.
Shelby County Live Setting Check
A calendar miss calls for a phone check. The interface itself warns that some courts do not post schedules online. Begin with the court identifier on the case. 73C01 is Circuit. 73D01 is Superior 1. 73D02 is Superior 2. The old 73E01 County Court was abolished and is no longer an active choice.
Ask three things. Is the hearing still set, did its time change, and where should you report? Weather closures and room changes can arise after an earlier entry. The Clerk can locate the file, but the court controls the hearing schedule. A party's lawyer may also hold a notice. It may not have reached the public view yet.
Quick check: A missing web entry is not a cancellation. Confirm the Shelby County court date with the assigned court.
Reading a Court Setting
A calendar card is just a schedule item. Its Description field carries whatever label the court supplied. So "initial hearing" does not mean trial. "Pretrial" says nothing about a plea or judgment. The Judicial Officer field may list one name or several. No separate courtroom field exists on the card. Use the court directory or phone line to find the room.
| Date | The scheduled session day in the public calendar window. |
|---|---|
| Time | The start and, when supplied, end time. |
| Courtroom | Not a separate result field; confirm it with the court. |
| Judge | The supplied Judicial Officer or Officers. |
| Setting Type | The Description, such as initial hearing, motion, pretrial, or trial. |
Match the style and cause number, not just a name. Similar names can crowd one Shelby County calendar day.
Shelby County Setting Labels
Shelby court pages use practical labels rather than one county code list. Criminal and infraction schedules may show initial hearing, admit-deny, bench trial, or jury trial. Pretrial, motion, sentencing, or review can appear as well. Small-claims matters may show trial, eviction diversion, settlement conference, proceeding supplemental, or garnishment appearance. Each label states what is planned, not what resulted.
- Initial hearing
- An early criminal appearance about charges, rights, bond, counsel, and next steps.
- Admit-deny
- An infraction setting for an admission, no-contest plea, or denial.
- Pretrial
- A case-management setting before a possible plea or trial.
- Reset
- A later setting entered after the former date changes.
- Review
- A later check on status or compliance.
When a label is unclear, open the CCS. A dated event with a linked order often says more than the short description.
Resets, Continuances, and Cancellations
A reset adds a new setting to the Shelby County CCS. It does not erase the old history. MyCase can still display an older date even when the calendar shows a later one. Read the newest order together with the newest setting. A filed request alone never proves a judge approved the move.
Superior Court 2 wants continuance requests in writing. Silence or no objection is not approval. Its small-claims guidance asks for requests at least two business days before the setting. Keep preparing to attend unless the court actually grants it. If a date is disputed, call the assigned court and inspect the current CCS.
The Shelby County Clerk maintains the filed request and order. Clerk staff will not turn an unapproved request into a cancellation.
Shelby County Remote Hearing Windows
Remote attendance in Superior Court 2 is possible, but never automatic. A Zoom request usually has to reach the court early. Plan on at least two workdays ahead of the hearing. Approval still has to come from a judge. Until it does, show up in person where the court tells you. Shelby Superior Court 2 links its hearings to the Indiana public livestream destination. The court's own streaming settings appear there.

Watching a stream does not make you a participant. The livestream is a public window on a Shelby County hearing, and it is not the official court record either; the calendar, the stream, and the CCS docket each do a separate job.
Shelby County Calendar Caseload Context
The state's own numbers live in the official Indiana Trial Court Statistics portal, where you can pick Shelby County, a court, a year, and a report. It is a caseload dashboard, though, not a tool for finding one person's hearing.

That selector gives caseload background, not a day's calendar. In the official 2024 all-courts report, 9,516 cases came before the court, 7,024 were disposed, and 2,397 were still pending at period end. Those figures cover the report year, not the current Shelby County docket.
Superior 2 handles every misdemeanor, traffic infraction, ordinance case, and small claim. Circuit and Superior 1 take the rest of the assignments, so picking the right court speeds up any Shelby County calendar search.
What To Do If You Miss a Setting
Act at once. Pull the newest CCS entry, call the Shelby County court handling the case, and reach counsel if you have one. Ask whether the docket now shows a reset date, a warrant, a default, or some other order the judge entered after you missed the hearing. Never count on a second notice. The mail or the web calendar will not fix it for you.
Missed a setting? A failure to appear can lead to a warrant, default, or other case-specific consequence.
Contact the assigned court promptly and follow any order or instruction it gives.
Get legal advice when a warrant or other adverse order may exist.
Write down the cause number, court, hearing type, and time. Then check the new instruction against the Shelby County case search and CCS. The newest order, confirmed directly with the court, beats any older docket entry.
